Methane

NOAA.A dire prediction says, that due to the global warming, Methane will rise from the Frozen soil of Siberia. And Methan also is told to be an ongoing problem due to cow flatus etc. But fact is, that the Methane concentration in the atmosphere has mostly stagnated in the recent decades of global warming after 1978.

In 2008 a little ”bump” on the Methane curve occurred, the Methane concentraion rose a little. This however occurred exactly in the quite cold La Nina year, 2008.

And more, The little ”bump” in Methane concentration 2008 occurred simultaneously on both Northern and Southern hemisphere. If Methane should originate from humans (or cows.. ) or Sibirian permafrost, then the 2008 Methane bump should have occured first on the Northen hemisphere and NOT simultaneously over the whole globe. An atmospheric mixing from the Northern hemisphere to the Southern would take many months or likely more.

While CH4 is quite effective as an absorber of infra-red it only works in a couple of narrow band-widths, one just below 3 microns and another narrower one around 7 microns (I think). Both bands overlap with waters bands and since water already does a good job of absorbing that IR light I reckon CH4 is not a serious player in Earth's thermal balance.
I'd welcome some further direction on this one.
Personally, I think the CH4 "discussion" sounds like another IPCC obfuscation. It might be more productive to focus on what really influences climate. Cloud cover seem a sensible starting point.
