Solar theory – does it match history?

Historic temperatures are subject to great disagreement, and thus its not possible to say exactly how well Solar activity matches historic temperatures. However here is a simple match where Solar low activity appears to match cold well known historic cold periods:

 

Temperatures, North Atlantic compared with sunspot number:

 

 

”Sunspot number” – one indicator of solar activity. Once again we see agreement between historic known cold periods and Solar activity. Even the slightly cold periods around 1900 and 1970 are visible. However volcanoes and ocean currents can easily disturb the match. The Solar magnetic index (below) might turn out to be a better proxy for temperatures then for example sunspots etc.
