As a follow-up on my recent writing on Arctic Ice extend before 1979, here a little focus on the Russian temperature station "GMO IM.E.K":

fig1. The GMO IM.E.K station is located right at the very gate of "the east passage" north of Russia.

Ice free years for the East passage when there is no or little ice around the GMO IM.E.K stations is likely to be reflected by the temperature data.

fig3. The temperature station GMO IM .E.K on the gate of the east passage shows several years before 1955 as warm as the warm years in the recent decade.

Black curve is average of all stations on fig1. Red curve is the same, just 10 year averaged.
