The tree lins – that is, how high altitude trees can grow – are now and then used as indicator for temperatures of the past. Here are 2 examples of interest because they represent areas near respectively Michael Manns MBH98 hockey stick Bristle cones result (left.) and Briffas Polar Urals and Yamal temperature data (Right.). Mann and Briffa interpreted strong warming trend 1950-2000. The local Tree lines has another message:
