RUTI Sudan, Ethiopia and Eritrea

After working with the Zaire-area, it is tempting to see if the rather solid trends can be found when moving further north in East Africa.

Fig1 South Sudan. As in many areas of Africa, to some degree we have to use some Urban or suburban temperature series. In South Sudan, the recent 20 years are only public available for 4 stations:

Fig2 All 4 stations are from medium sized or smaller urban areas/Airports. These stations are all located all in central Sudan not too far apart, and should show more similar trends than what we see in fig2. The El Fasher data appears to be an outsider in the years 1995-2010, Sennar lacks a lot of data. Therefore my best estimate is obtained using El Obeid and Damazine data for the years after 1990, although these stations are somewhat urban too.

Fig5. For temperature stations inside Ethopia, we dont have any data publicly available 1912-45, but fortunately, we have a handful stations just outside the ethiopian boarder, so these will be used up to 1960 to fill out the missing years.

Fig7. NE Sudan. We dont have any temperature stations for NW Sudan, so only the NE area is covered.

Fig8. NE Sudan trends. In genral for Africa, many areas has mostly urban or sub urban data available.

The station "Wadi Halfa" is included in RUTI: Egypt and the Levante.
